Fraternal Order of Real Bearded Santas presents

Santa Jamboree

We’ll Have Fun! Fun! Fun!
FORBS Santa Jamboree

Hundreds, if not thousands, of your fellow Santas, both real and designer bearded, plus Mrs. Claus, Friends and Family will be cruisin’ the highways to Sunny Southern California and Anaheim for the first ever Santa Jamboree!

The Board of Directors and the members of FORBS have put together a 5 day-4 night Jamboree that is a bit vacation, a bit convention, and a bit magic!

Anaheim Crown Plaza Hotel

Everything, with the exception of the parade and your personal excursions, will be under one roof in the beautiful Crowne Plaza Anaheim Resort Hotel, June 27 to July 1, 2010.

The convention will include: wonderful workshops; a vendor fair; special events; celebrity speakers; and a spectacular Crusin’ Parade!

Santa Walter Restructures

In working to minimize the confusion in my own mind, it was necessary to differentiate Santa Walter into several parts. Of course, there is only me; however, the role I fill as Santa Walter is parallel to the rest of my life: Father Dad, Husband Walter, Teacher Mister Roach, Choral Singer Bass, etc. Even though I am still me, there are different roles I fill. To help me maximize my effectiveness as Santa Walter it feels to me like a separation and definition is in order.

Santa Walter as Mentor and Coach

In setting up Santas NorCal (Santas of Northern California) it was with a recognition that a local group of Santas would benefit by getting together and sharing. The philosophy is that there is a lot more business available than all of us can do together, so we really are not in competitino with each other. The analogy is with nearby Red Robin that was busy, waiting lines for Friday nights. While there was a temporary slow-down with the grand openings of a Chili's and a Macaroni Grill at the same mall, within a few weeks ALL 3 restaurants had lines on Friday night and were busy.

Santa Walter is restructuring his web presence. It seems to always take longer and be more complicated than on first blush! It is a major adjustment in process; however, it makes a lot of sense in the big picture plan. It is clear that Santa For Events has Santa Walter and so does the fledgling Santa Business School features Santa Walter; however, the two roles are very different.

Based on Colleen Wainwright's workshop (she is the Communicatrix), there should be a 'brand identity' clearly developed on Santa Walter. Then, the role of visiting clients as Santa is clearly different than the role of supporting experienced Santas in polishing their skills. So the plan is based on a new, umbrella site:

Hmmm.

Once it gets all developed and linked together, the maintenance will be tolerable; however, getting there is a bit daunting! The marketing plan is based on prospecting calls, email and brochure follow-ups for Santa For Events. On the Santa Business School, the long range plan is to offer consulting services for Santas who want to move up in skills and professionalism in 4 or 5 years, when I retire from teaching school. In the meantime, various articles, slide shows, audio and video resources will be offered at no charge or at nominal costs.
